Day 8 - Addendum

After updating my blog and chilling in Starbucks for hours, I chose to do some laundry at a laundromat on the edge of town. Poor ladies watched me undress and throw my clothing into the washing machine. I was shirtless in the laundromat. Terrible Droid photo...don't complain. Most of the other images in the blog are pretty nice, except the ones taken at night. I said, don't complain... you were thinking about it.

A few notes on the day I otherwise forgot. Somewhere along the way, I misplaced an avocado. I found it. Guacamole without the lime juice, tomato and onion in the bottom of my backpack. Still good though. That's been an overall disappointment I've had so far on my journey. Crummy fruits and vegetables, with the exception of avocados. The avos in southern CA have been smaller than I'm accustomed to, however, they have a sweetness I never anticipated! Nummy num.

Also, right as I was telling Chalise at Starbucks about an observation I had while traveling, happened again right in front of our collective eyes. Untold numbers of late model, white, Chevrolet pickup trucks all over the place. As I mentioned it, holy smokes, there were 4 that pulled up to the intersection! Why are white Chevy trucks so prevalent? I can only suppose that it is because of the reflection of light..no sense having a black truck when it can get to 120 degrees in the summer.

Also, great news from local time. I made it to Arizona...proof positive below.

Ma & Pa, I'm in AZ!

Look how happy Flat Stanley is now that he's in Arizona. He said something about visiting John McCain. I thwarted that idea.

Another thing, if you see a pair of Joseph Abboud progressive lens glasses and a pink solar charger (that I found out did work pretty well) along the north side of SR 78 a few miles west of the border patrol station outside of Glamis, please let me know. I liked them both. So for now, I gotta hope for electrical outlets and purchased 2 pairs of 1.75 magnification glasses from the Dollar Store to hold me over.

Finally, check out the price of cigarettes in AZ. Holy incredibly expensive smokes Batman - that's almost as good of a deterrent as emphysema! I don't even know if that includes sales tax. I really don't care.
