I haven’t formally asked yet. So here is the formal ask. As you know I’m on a journey across the US to raise money for Advocates for Survivors of Torture and Trauma, Inc. (ASTT.org). I would love to have all of my friends contribute $50.00 (or more certainly if you are so inclined) to my efforts. However, now I would only like to ask for ½ of the total amount you would like to contribute. Here’s how I figure it. If you contribute half, you have only contributed for 600 miles of the 3,092.5 mile journey. I’ll feel like a tool if I don’t get at least half way. Then, when I’m 200 miles from St. Augustine, I’m gonna ask ya for the second ½. You’d feel like a tool if you didn’t make a contribution after I rode 2,892.5 miles!
I truly have been humbled by the outpouring of support from everyone for my journey and experience. I will certainly be gaining personally from the journey itself, but torture victims will definitely be the beneficiaries from my fundraising efforts. I sincerely encourage you to visit the ASTT.org website to find out the services the organization provides. Just so you are aware, at our last Board meeting, we were advised that there is a waiting list of 85 prospective clients who are in need of psychological counseling as a result of their traumas who cannot be helped at the present time due to financial and physical limitations.
If you are willing to make a contribution, you may visit http://www.firstgiving.com/paladinpedaling to make a tax deductible contribution via credit card or you may send check payable to:

And now, back to our regularly scheduled blog...

So here is the appropriate song for my few days in Three Way, AZ. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMyCa35_mOg
Sitting atop a small hill is the Clifton Ranger District with expansive panoramic views of hills, valleys, greenery and much more brownery (I think I just may have made up a vegetation term!). I lie in wait for a white FedEx truck to deliver me the goods (shall I post a Judas Priest video here?) so I may continue my journey. Because I can see for miles I could see the coming of my veritable package containing my Wilson! Alas, my view is missing the box of goodies that Tom Hanks received on his journey.
In my otherwise down time, I completed a book, basked in some glorious cloudless skies, photographed a bit and witnessed some fun fauna antics. While sitting by the ranger station, I was able to just plain relax. Can you guess why I'd be relaxed? Check out these photos!

The following may not look like much, but I loved it. This simplicity of nature gives me goosebumps. In the area where I put my tent, it is irrigated by sprinklers (fortunately, I chose to put my tent in the dirt area instead of the grassy area). When the sprinklers started watering the lawn, some of the brownery, a small flock of birds emerged from the brush to drink the water that sat upon the dried grass. After several minutes, when they were apparently fully hydrated, it was time for bathing in the dampness. Fluttering wings in the moist grass was a really interesting and captivating sight. I'm glad I got to witness the simple natural act.

| As I sat writing this blog, a new multicolored friend stopped by for a visit. I allowed him to sit on my hand. He started munching my knuckle. Didn't think grasshoppers were carnivorous! |

A former fuzzy crawler made an appearance and gave a colorful performance while I typed my blog.
I truly hope you will consider making a donation toward ASTT.org and help me attain the $10,000 goal I have set forth for my ride. It is truly with great humility that I ask for your help for those people really struggling with psychological issues and concerns.
