This is a view from in front of Daniela and Carl's home. Shrouded in a blanket of clouds is a mountain on the western side of El Paso.
Karma and Daniela pose in front of the homestead and travel trailer in which I slept, quite comfortably I must add. The trailer was nicer than my own home!
After Daniela and her daughter left for the day, I spent the next hour or so organizing and fixing various things in a gorgeous morning sunshine. Unfortunately, I had broke a valve stem on my tube, then when putting the tire back in place, shifted the brake pad, then snapped a cable. Karma rested in the soothing sunshine and refused to assist, again!
Once we got on the road, I had multiple stops to make including at a bike shop, which is where this photo was taken. Karma looks like I'm about to throttle her. That folks is her look of attentiveness, I swear!
Once we took off through El Paso, I stopped at a chiropractor to give me a bit of an adjustment. Karma insisted on licking me as I was being cranked around by the very good manipulator.
When traveling, it is amazing the number of dog fanatics waving, pointing, and hollering with excitement at the sight of Karma in the trailer. I'm hoping that tomorrow the city traffic will subside enough to allow Karma to run beside me. I can tell she wants nothing more than to run, run, run. She's like a race dog in the starting gate begging to chase the rabbit.
While riding along through El Paso, I could not help but marvel at the miles and miles of used car dealers, auto repair shops, title loan stores, auto insurance agencies and auto accessory stores. I'm convinced I saw 6 each of O'reily's Auto Parts and Auto Zone stores. With the proximity to Mexico, I anticipated jalopies of all sorts everywhere. Surprisingly there seemingly a culture of true caring for the 4 wheeled beasts in this part of Texas.
At a pit stop along our route outside a WalMart, Karma and I were photographed by an employee.
Soon after this photo, Karma and I proceeded out of town and ultimately found ourselves without a place to stay. I found a church with some parishoners entering the church and requested permission to put up my tent for the night. Karma, draped in her fleece and waterproof jacket climbed into my tent and made herself at home on my sleeping bag. We had a discussion about the new arrangements, she was reluctant to acquiesce to my requests. But with a little encouragement, by sliding her along the nylon sleeping bag, she began to understand where her part of the tent is located - on the special mattress pad.
Well, it's time to put my eyes behind their lids and dream of what can be in the future with Karma and me. She's a very inspirational soul.
Hi Tim, My name is Annie. One of my best Christmas presents was to find out today about your adoption of Karma....I had her for two nights a month or two back.... to see if she were a fit for us.....as a service dog for my little son...we already have a spirited labradoodle that Sally has helped me with. I loved Karma...I wanted to keep her...if I tried hard enough I could have twisted my hubby's arm, .but for some reason it did not feel right for my family.....now I know why....she was meant for you....I love her to pieces and she was the best buddy as well as a foot warmer for a nap I took on one of the days I had her.....Congratulations!!! Annie
